Dear Writer,
The old saying goes, "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." Ultimately, it was this line of thinking that inspired me to create End Of Story
I've always found the script analyst and script doctor services on the web to be lacking in commitment and appallingly excessive in cost—in other words, the antithesis of what a story analyst service should be. My sincere disappointment in the disservice offered to writers finally led me to create a mold breaking business model for what I believe to be the most overdue script service on the web. End Of Story's model offers a limitless consultation at one small flat rate fee—or what I like to call the absolute maximum for the absolute minimum.
Like most mold breaking business endeavors, End Of Story's begins with a spark of enlightenment that I'd like to quickly share with you:
A few months ago a fellow writer and colleague of mine finished a screenplay. Ready for the all important feedback and analysis stage in his script's development, he invested hundreds and hundreds of dollars into the internet's script doctors and story editors. Totally disappointed with his lack of constructive criticism and overall time invested in his script and unable to allow himself to waste another dollar on a one-and-done service, he came to me for help. He asked me to read his script, noting that, at this point, any feedback whatsoever would be appreciated.
Refusing to disappoint a fellow writer in need of a story editor, I vowed to give my colleague the commitment and constructed criticism he deserved in the first place. I read his script making notes throughout and translated those notes into pages of analysis. I emailed him those notes and told him once he had a chance to digest my feedback, I would like to have a verbal conversation with him to ensure he understands the points I have addressed. And after that, I told him to feel free to email me any further questions at any time, as I would stay committed to making sure his script reaches its full potential.
My colleague was so pleased and overwhelmed by my knowledge, support and commitment to his story that he told me he was actually happy that he pursued other services because his disappointment in them led him to me. In one of our follow up emails he concluded, “You should seriously considering offering this service for a living.”
With his words in mind, I reflected on the passion I put into working with story and the pride I take in using my expertise to help someone willing to put his or her trust in me. Upon reflecting, I realized that in creating a story analysis service based on the model I used for my colleague, I would be combining my two greatest passions, storytelling and helping people reach their true potential.
At End Of Story, I personally read every script, promising you the same effort I gave to my colleague. Unlike other services, my job as your story analyst does not end at the single push of the send button. After sending you my initial analysis, I will maintain a working relationship with you as a writer that does not end until you are completely satisfied, regardless of how many follow up phone minutes or subsequent number of emails that takes.
As a writer, I do not sell myself short, so why would I do that to you? The answer is, I would not and I won't...end of story.
